Baby Bird (Forbidden Book 2) by Seven Rue

Book Review

Title: Baby Bird (Forbidden Book 2) by Seven Rue

Genre: Taboo, Erotic, Romance

Rating: 4.25 Stars

Baby Bird is the novella sequel to Forbidden and in this story we are following Birdie as she decides to keep her baby even though she can’t be sure of who the father is. This does cause some tension as Luke and Rhett are all for it but Theo isn’t ready to become a father but he supports her decision. Following Birdie through her pregnancy was amazing as were the sex scene but the real star here was the characters. We dive deeper into Birdie and Luke’s evolving relationship especially when he divorces his wife to be with her and the baby. Birdie is supportive of Luke as he can only see his children once a month but they make things work. During this novella, Birdie’s relationship with Luke is loving and caring while with Rhett and Theo it seems to be more sexually in nature than anything else but that is ok as she still loves all of them but she wants to be closer to Luke. They decide that if the baby is Luke’s then they will move in together and if it is Rhett’s or Theo’s, Luke will move in with her because he is going to support and love her and the baby no matter who the father is and that made me adore Luke as a character.

Nothing super eventful happens until Birdie is a couple of days away from her due date when Rhett being a doctor realises she has been in labour for over a day and they rush to the hospital. However, before she leaves Theo breaks down and says that he wants nothing to do with baby forcing Rhett to kick him out. Together, Rhett, Birdie and Luke welcome baby Jude into the world and it is confirmed that Rhett is the father. He asks Luke to move in with them as he knows how much Birdie needs Luke in her and Jude’s life and for the next month things are relatively happy but the hole Theo left remains. Eventually he pulls his shit together and apologises to Birdie who forgives him as she knew he didn’t want to be a father but he has decided he still wants to be with her and a part of Jude’s life and she allows it. Now the four of them have been reunited they can get their happily ever after, overall, Baby Bird was a great follow up to Forbidden and really dived deep into the characters. The only thing it was missing in my personal opinion was at least one sword crossing scenes as that would have been amazing and I didn’t really like the reveal that Jude was Rhett’s baby. I think it would have been more impactful for Jude to have been Theo’s and watch him come to terms with that and accept and love the fact Birdie made him a father even if he wasn’t sure he was ready for it but I was satisfied with the outcome.
