Biannual Bibliothon: 2019 Winter Round

So the Biannual Bibliothon took place again this year between Jan 12th – Jan 18th

I was so delighted at the reading challenges this round and I was glad I read as much as I did in the week allowed but I was also disappointed because I was only one book away from reading my whole TBR for this readathon.

The challenges this round were; read the group book (Empress of All Season by Emiko Jean), Read one of the hosts 5* recommendations (I chose Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor), Re-read a book that got you into reading (I, of course, chose Harry Potter), read an adult book (The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo), read book that is your favourite format and least favourite genre or vice verse (I chose Illuminae by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff), read a book with a cover you dislike and finally read a book by an author new to you.

For the final two challenges I actually doubled up, so I used Empress of All Seasons for the group book and a new to you author challenges and I used The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo for an adult book and a cover I dislike challenges.

Group Book – Empress of all Seasons by Emiko Jean – A great book all round and would highly recommend.

5* Recommendation (HOST) – Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

Re-read a book that got you into reading – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J K Rowling – Nothing needs to be said about this!

Read an adult book – The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo – So I don’t read historical fiction or adult fiction really, but I have heard nothing but good things about The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, so I thought I’d give it a go.

Fav genre + least fav format – Illuminae Files by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff I have reversed this so multimedia is my favourite format and sci-fi isn’t my least favourite genre, but it is one of my least read genres with historical fiction. I choose sci-fi instead of historical fiction, although I read less historical fiction than sci-fi because most historical fiction novels, I read I end up DNFing.

Read a book with a cover you don’t like – The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

New to you Author – Empress of all season by Emiko Jean

Reviews for all the books I completed can also be found here. I would highly recommend all of them especially Empress of All Seasons which is a new fantasy based on Japanese Mythology and the seasons, as well as The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo which was funny, insightful and left me in tears.
