Chainsaw Man Vol. 4 by Tatsuki Fujimoto

Book Review

Title: Chainsaw Man Vol. 4 by Tatsuki Fujimoto

Genre: Manga, Fantasy, Horror

Rating: 5 Stars

Volume 4 was another solid entry into the series as we see the aftermath of the attack on the devil hunters and learn much more about Makima. The girl contracted to the snake devil tries to get away with Denji’s body after the blade devil cut him in half but Makima who arrived in Kyoto uses her ability to save him. It seems Makima’s contract is with a unique devil although we don’t know what it is yet but it allows her to not die and kill people from a distance.

While the snake girl manages to get away most of the devil hunter divisions have been wiped out apart from the non-human members meaning now divisions 1 to 3 have been merged into division 4 to make up for the loss of manpower. Aki is also sent to be contracted to a new devil since the fox has abandoned him and he can’t use the curse devil anymore since it has already shortened his lifespan to just two years. His new contract is with the future devil who agrees to take nothing from him, it just wants to live inside Aki’s eye to witness his death first hand and Aki agrees.

The snake girl is using the yakuza and the remaining zombies from the first volume to have another attempt at killing Denji but he and Power have been trained by one of the strongest devil hunters and are more prepared now for what is coming. The division has also been reinforced with the shark and spider devilmen and the angel devil who easily wipe out the zombies leaving Aki to face down the snake girl but he become enraged when he realises she has contracted with Himeno’s ghost devil.
