Title: Chainsaw Man Vol. 6 by Tatsuki Fujimoto
Genre: Manga, Fantasy, Horror
Rating: 5 Stars
Volume 6 was one of the best volumes so far for me as it is essentially one giant action sequence from beginning to end. When Reze asks Denji to run away with her, he explains that for the first time in his life he feels wanted and useful somewhere but he would still like to be with her and this prompts her to reveal that she is the bomb devil. Honestly even knowing this was coming I was still stunned by how quickly her personality changed and it was hinted at in the previous volume.
After attacking Denji, Beam, the shark devilman comes to his rescue and returns Denji to Aki and Angel who heal him but now they have the bomb devil after them and she is creating chaos anywhere she goes and killing quite a lot of people, both devil hunters and civilians along the way. While other devil hunters try to stop her, Reze seems to powerful for anyone to stop until Denji unleashes Pochita’s power again and decides to take Reze on himself.
Neither one seems to be getting the upper hand they want but Reze is running out of time faster than Denji since she has been transformed for longer but she uses her contract with the typhoon devil to prolong her time in her bomb form since the typhoon devil gives her blood. Denji with the help of Beam figures out a way to deal with the typhoon devil and tosses Reze into the ocean. When they wash up on the beach, Denji explains he doesn’t regret saving her and actually wants to give them a shot. Reze responds by saying she never actually liked Denji but he knows she is lying and offers to meet her at the café the following day.
The volume ends with Reze heading to meet Denji and Makima appearing and attacking her. Reze tries to transform but is stopped by Makima and eventually with the help of Angel, Reze is eventually killed while Denji is waiting with flowers just across the road unaware that this is all happening. Knowing there is something off with Makima makes me think she is trying to keep Denji on a leash with his attraction to her and she can’t have Reze compromising this so she had to be killed but I can’t wait to see what happens next.
