Title: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Vol 17 by Koyoharu Gotouge
Genre: Manga, Fantasy
Rating: 5 Stars
Volume 17 was one I had been waiting for as we see the three of Kaguya’s remaining all under the age of 10 leading the demon slayer corps in their final fight. Zenitsu is taking on Kaigaku when moments before news of Shinobu’s death are passed around by the crows which are also lending their sight to the children outside of the Infinity Palace. The children are being protected by the retired Uzui and Rengoku’s father while Nezuko has been given Tamayo’s medication to turn her back into a human which she also gave to Muzan and she is being protected by Urokudaki.
While Muzan is destroying the medication within him he is also absorbing Tamayo and she knows her death is coming soon she just hopes to delay him long enough for the pillars to escape and defeat him. Zenitsu faces down Kaigaku who was someone he always looked up to despite not liking him because he could use more forms of thunder breathing than Zenitsu. However, he is taken down very quickly by Zenitsu with his seven form, while thunder breathing only has 6 forms Zenitsu created a 7th himself like Giyuu did with lull.
It is also at this moment that Akaza tracks down Tanjirou and Giyuu and Tanjirou wants to avenge Rengoku. Both are on the back foot almost immediately with Akaza despite having grown stronger and Tanjirou seems to sense there is something unique about Akaza’s compass technique. Thinking back to the things his father taught, Tanjirou now sees he was taught how to use breath correctly as well as being given instructions for how to access the transparent world. Tanjirou begins using this to avoid Akaza’s blow as he essentially become invisible while remaining visible and this coupled with Giyuu awakening his mark means that they might be able to beat him.
