Title: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Vol 19 by Koyoharu Gotouge
Genre: Manga, Fantasy
Rating: 5 Stars
These volumes are getting shorter as we get closer to the end typically focusing on a single fight at a time. We continue to follow Inosuke and Kanao in their fight with Douma but he seems to be playing with them. He summons smaller versions of himself to fight them while he intends to leave and go elsewhere but Kanao seems to be waiting for something to happen and urges Inosuke to be patient even though it isn’t in his nature.
We get a brief flashback where Shinobu explains her plan for Douma to Kanao, Shinobu for over a year has been ingesting the wisteria poison she uses against demons and she planned to let Douma eat her from the very beginning, hoping that the large amount of wisteria inside her body would slow him down enough for Kanao to finish him. At this moment Douma’s body begins melting because of the poison and Kanao sees her chance to strike.
At the last moment, Douma pulls out an attack but it was created in haste allowing Kanao to use the final form of flower breathing to bring him down with Inosuke’s help but leaving herself virtually blind in one eye. Douma briefly meets Shinobu in the afterlife before she sends him kicking to hell and allowing her and Kanae to pass on peacefully after saying goodbye to Kanao. Elsewhere in the Infinity Palace, Iguro and Mitsuri have encountered the biwa lady and are taking her on but her ability to manipulate the environment at will is making it hard. Muichirou, Sanemi, Gneya and Gyomei are also taking on Kokushibo which is going to be an interesting fight. Muichirou seems to be a descendant of Kokushibo and he figures out that this demon was a demon slayer in his human life as he uses moon breathing.
Sanemi and Genya quickly provide help but Muichirou has lost an arm and been stabbed, Genya has had both arms cut off and been sliched in half but the demon abilities he has from eating them are keeping him alive. Sanemi takes him on for a while but is also injured, however, his rare blood slows Kokushibo down enough for Gyomei to arrive and begin taking him on and he also unleashes his own demon slayer mark as this battle begins to heat up.
