Book Review

Title: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Vol 22 by Koyoharu Gotouge

Genre: Manga, Fantasy

Rating: 5 Stars

Volume 22 was the beginning of the final fight with Muzan since they managed to drive him above ground after the death of Nakime. With an hour and half until sunrise many believe that they won’t survive until then, even some of the Pillars believe it is impossible to keep Muzan in one place that long but they are going to try.

This battle is hard from the beginning since many have already had several fights and sustained injuries like Sanemi and Tanjirou while other like Muiichirou and Genya have died reduced the demon slayer’s numbers even more. While everyone begins to arrive and jump into the fight it seems like they aren’t going to be able to keep Muzan there until sunrise. However, Gyomei is the one the point out things like the transparent world and the red blades to the other demons. While this battle is serious and tense there were a few moments that made me laugh like Sanemi launching himself at Giyuu in order to change their blades.

As the battle rages on the demon slayers are doing their best to hang on until dawn but with the injuries mounting up and Muzan not slowing down it seems like they are going to lose. This is until all the lower ranks launch themselves between the Pillars and Muzan, sacrificing their lives in order to protect the Pillars, the only ones strong enough to take Muzan down. Tanjirou is also still down and inside his mind we can see there are many things he is thinking about but returning to Nezuko and his friends in the main one. Meanwhile others are fighting to keep him alive and praying for him to pull through.
