Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Vol 6 by Koyoharu Gotouge

Book Review

Title: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Vol 6 by Koyoharu Gotouge

Genre: Manga, Fantasy

Rating: 5 Stars

Volume 6 deals with the aftermath of demon spider clan fight and while Shinobu tries to kill Nezuko they receive a message to bring her and Tanjiro to the demon slayer head quarters which is obeyed. This is where we finally get introduced although only briefly to all nine of the Pillars, the strongest in the demon slayer corps and obviously watching Tanjiro headbutt Sanemi for stabbing was just as satisfying as it was in the anime.

The Pillar meeting is the moment where Tanjiro and Nezuko are truly accepted by the core since she refuses Sanemi’s blood. Sanemi like the blood Kyogai kidnapped has unique blood that is extremely tempting to demons so for Nezuko to refuse this shows that she wouldn’t willingly attack a human although some Pillar like Obanai and Sanemi have an issue with this even though they have proof. It isn’t until they learn that Tanjiro has come into contact with Muzan and is even being hunted by him that they begin to treat him seriously.

Afterwards Tanjiro, Inosuke and Zenitsu are taken to the Butterfly Mansion in order to recover, rest and eventually begin training again along with the delivery of their new swords. All three manage to complete full body breathing for a full day giving them a huge increase in speed, power and stamina. While this volume wasn’t as action packed as other it gave us a lot of insight into the characters were are following but the lower demon moon meeting towards the end of the volume was amazing. Muzan sees the lower moons as weak and decides to disband them by killing them and the only survivor of the purge is Enmu and if you recognise that name you know what’s coming. Enmu is given a lot of blood from Muzan and is told if he survives then his mission is to kill Tanjiro and the Pillars.
