Book Review
Title: Done Right by Rhianna Burwell (She Teaches Him Book 1)
Genre: Novella, Erotic Romance
Rating: 5 Stars
From the outset this series is a series of novella following female dominant end sexual relationships and in this book we are introduced to Emma. Emma is single and trying to find a guy who can satisfy her and her current one nighter isn’t doing it for her so she leaves. This was something that really spoke to me as in fiction especially erotic fiction seeing women walk out during the act because it isn’t working for her is extremely rare so this was a major point for Burwell from the beginning.
In a local bar after leaving Emma begins complaining about her one nighter but catches the attention of Finn who is currently out on a date with another woman. Knowing there is no future with this women Finn sends her away before claiming the seat next to Emma at the bar. Emma’s current topic of conversation is enough to embarrass Finn which is something else w ended it normalise in erotic fiction before she recognises him as the billionaire, Finn Declan.
There is an obvious sexual tension between the pair and they decide to do something about it heading back to Emma’s place to get it on. While these scenes aren’t the longest or most detailed that I have seen in erotic romance, they do several things that I rarely see in these kinds of books. Firstly, Finn moans, while men in erotic fiction do make noise, they are also obvious masculine words like grunted, groaned and growled never moaned or whimpered which are usually reserved for the female characters. The second is that Emma leads the interaction instructing Finn especially when he confesses he has never gone down on a woman before since none of his previous partners were interested in him sexually but more of the status they would gain from bedding him.
Overall, I absolutely adored Done Right and if Burwell ever writes a full length novel I will probably devours it and I couldn’t wait to get into Taught Right following Joey and Ava.
