Games We Play by Dana Isaly (One Night Book 1)

Book Review

Title: Games We Play by Dana Isaly (One Night Book 1)

Genre: Erotic, Romance

Rating: 4.25 Stars

I ended up in a similar relationship with this series as I did with the Nick and Holly series which means I started the series but never finished it. I have read Games We Play before but none of the other books despite loving it so I decided to re-read this to get familiar with the characters again and to see if I still felt the same way before continuing. The short answer is yes, I still adore Jack and Quin as a couple but I did feel more could have been done with their dynamic. Quin is a reporter for a gaming magazine and gets an interview with the mysterious streamer called Joker. Joker aka Jack finds Quin beautiful from the second she arrives at his door but the interview quickly turns into some heavy flirting and in true Dana Isaly fashion that flirting becomes much more.

While the book is one extended smut scenes there are some more tender moments in there especially the sleeping scene which was adorable and really showed Jack and Quin opening up to each other. I also liked how Isaly worked in the other characters in the series in a short space of time. Getting to know the boys was interesting as we don’t spend a lot of time with them but their personalities really shine through and I am excited to see more of them especially Wes in the next book.

The epilogue was a real highlight for me with Jack proposing to Quin and seeing how their dynamic has matured over a year. However, I wish there was more of Jack’s submissive side which we see briefly in one scene but Isaly doesn’t touch on it again and I felt it could have skyrocketed Jack to a whole other level as a character. Overall, I did still love Games We Play but I did have a couple of issues with it that I didn’t really have the first time I read it but I will definitely be continuing with the series.
