Book Review
Title: Guarded
Author: Sabrina Kade
Genre: Sci-Fi/Romance
Rating: *****
Review: So, I absolutely loved Purchased and apart from Blythe and Korben my next favourite character was the spunky York and this novel follows her P.O.V. during the same events as Purchased. This novel begins during the week Blythe was taken by Korben and didn’t see the other girls and how she and Azan seems to develop a connection from afar but when Blythe returns, and she learns that Korben asked Azan to watch her she feels betrayed, but I think there is more to this than York knows right now.
As we approach the ¼ mark in the novel, Guarded has rehashed the last half of Purchased but from York’s perspective and we haven’t seen Azan’s yet, but we did get to see a few their interactions during the mingling session and it is one of the first time we have seen Azan speak more than 2 words in the whole of Purchased.
As we cross the ¼ mark in the novel, York shows her understanding and caring side by rejecting other males who Azan knows are far more desirable than he is and for the first time in ages, he feels like he has a chance at claiming a woman for his own. We also learn that Azan has some sort of disease related to his fang which is why he wears the mask, but we don’t know what he looks like without it yet.
As we approach the halfway mark in the novel, York and Azan are adorable while he is protective of her and wants her, he has been rejected before but she slowly manages to break down the walls he has built around himself. It was nice to see Azan open up in a way we have never seen before and I can’t wait for them to get together properly.
As we cross into the second half of the novel, Azan finally begins to realise that no matter what he shows or tells York she isn’t going to leave him bringing him so measure of hope that he has never had before, and their first sexual encounter was beautiful as it was full of both of their insecurities and their fear, but they overcome it and York even tells Azan that she loves him.
As we approach the ¾ mark in the novel, the problem with York and Azan’s relationship is that they can’t sit down and discuss the certain issue because of their insecurities unlike Blythe and Korben and this leads to all sorts of issues. While this leads to issues and I hoping that the pair will overcome it and that York will take Azan’s virginity very soon.
As we cross into the final section of the novel, the outcome of the relationship between Azan and York was beautiful and we also get some new insight into Blythe and Korben’s relationship and some insights into relationships we haven’t seen yet, and I hope to see more of them very soon. While these books follow one couple per book I’d like to see a bit more from Korben, Blythe, York, and Azan in the future and I can’t wait to read more from this author soon.
