What Book Has Been On Your Shelf The Longest?
I am pretty sure it is Flowers In The Attic by V. C. Andrews. My first copy was given to me by my mothers and I have bought various copies throughout the years but it still remains unfinished.
What is your current read, your last read, and the book you’ll read next?
I am currently reading The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins and not really loving it as I was spoiled for the ending and can’t be assed to finish it now. My Last Read was The Mixtape to My Life by Jake Martinez which I loved and I am not sure what my next read will be as I am mood reader but I am going to re-read Stalking Jack the Ripper and Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco so I can finish the series.
What Books Did Everyone Like, but You Hated?
The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
What book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read, but you probably won’t?
Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
What book are you saving for retirement?
I’ll probably die before finishing all the books on my TBR so a lot will be read in retirement when I don’t have to be in education or work.
Last page: read it first or wait ’til the end?
Never at the beginning always at the end. I have spoiled myself quite a few times by flipping through books in the store so never! I read the blurb and the look at the cover if it interests me I buy it – simple.
Acknowledgment: waste of paper and ink or interesting aside?
Depends on the book, some have acknowledgements thanking so many people and I honestly don’t care but certain books like Elantris have forewords and acknowledgements that explain how the book came into being which is interesting unlike just saying thank you over and over and over.
Which book character would you switch places with?
Dumbledore – as much as I love to hate him, he kept so much from Harry that could have eliminated a lot of the minor conflicts and struggles Harry had to go through. I sort that shit out so quickly the series would only be 3-4 books long.
Do you have a book that reminds you of something specific in your life (place, time, person)?
Hetty Feather by Jacqueline Wilson – I was given a copy by my aunt who has passed away now and every time I look at it, it reminds me of her.
Name a book that you acquired in an interesting way.
A date – I went on a date with an author once and he gave me a copy of his book at the end of it which was strange to say the least.
Have you ever given a book away for a special reason/to a special person?
No but I have received books from special people and for special reasons but never given them away. My books are my babies and they are never leaving my side.
Which book has been with you to the most places?
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov or Harry Potter – I re-read these books so often so they go everywhere with me.
Any ‘required reading’ you hated in high school that wasn’t so bad two years later
The Color Purple – I hated it when I reading it in college but after watching the movie I went back and read it again and it is honestly one of my favourite classics of all time.
Used or brand new?
New always! I very rarely get second hand books because I can never be confident of the condition unless it is coming from family or a trusted friend who I know takes care of their books.
Have you ever read a Dan Brown book?
No – I tried to read the Da Vinci Code once and it was boring.
Have you ever seen a movie you liked more than the book?
All the Dan Brown movies – I love them.
Have you ever read a book that’s made you hungry, cookbooks included?
Nope.
Who is the person whose book advice you’ll always take?
No one really but if an author said to me you should read this book, I probably would.
Is there a book out of your comfort zone (e.g. outside of your usual reading genre) that you ended up loving?
Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma, Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, and many more along the same lines. While these books are seen as taboo I love them. Humbert is one of my favourite male characters ever so yea….
