Title: Lady Folbroke’s Delicious Deception

Author: Riho Sachimi

Genre: Manga

Rating: *****

Review: In Lady Folbroke’s Delicious Deception, we follow Emily whose husband Adrian is an Earl but 3 years ago he went to London and never returned. Now is cousin Rupert is trying to claim Adrien’s land as his own unless Emily produces an heir, in the moment Emily tells Rupert that she is pregnant but now she has only months to make a baby actually appear.

She decides to travel to London and find her husband, despite the fact that his faithful servant Hendricks repeatedly tells her that her husband isn’t there, she is firm and won’t leave until she sees him. Hendricks finally caves in and Emily learns that during the war her husband was blinded and hasn’t returned home for this reason. Being a clever woman Emily comes up with a plan to prove to Adrien that he is still worthy of being loved even without his sight. She thinks up a persona to present to Adrien and he ends up falling in love with the nameless woman.

Over time Emily realises that she has to come clean especially when she learns that Adrien is slowly drinking himself to death, so when she visits Adrien after he presents himself back into society and isn’t rejected, she feels she has a chance. However, Adrien realises that she has tricked him, and he has also heard from Rupert that she is pregnant and turns her away. Once again it is Hendricks who steps in to tell Adrien how stupid he is being, and that Emily has only ever loved him, that she isn’t pregnant and that everything she has done was only to get him to return home to her.

Realising his mistake Adrien goes to find Emily at great cost to his pride but he manages to tell her exactly how he feels, and they return home together. We then jump forward several years where Hendricks is still employed by the Folbroke family, but the only difference is they now have 4 children and are living happily ever after.
