March Reviews

I read a total of 19 books in March which would have been more if I had the chance to participate in Zoe’s 24-hour readathon but unfortunately I was working. However, this month does take me to 37% of my yearly goal of 300 books.

1. Her Wonderland Kings by Stefanie Marie *** – This review is going to follow the same structure as Cold Fingers and Surrender to Them, as I am going to review each book individually, so if you haven’t read this series or just want to know my thoughts on one book you can skip to the relevant section. This book is labelled as a reverse harem Alice in Wonderland retelling and as I loved other Alice in Wonderland retellings like Splintered by A. G. Howard I couldn’t wait to jump into this trilogy.

2. Cocky CFO by Flora Ferrari ***** – I have read quite a few of Flora Ferrari’s book but I didn’t know anything about Cocky CFO except that it follows Amelia and Carson and centres around a slip-up Amelia makes regarding her love life and Carson takes full advantage of that. Amelia accidentally makes the mistake of sending a message making fun of the acronym CFO to her friend, but it turns out she sent it to the company group chat and now everyone she works with knows that she has never experienced the big O and she has to deal with the fallout.

3. Never Tamed by Sabrina Kade **** – So I read the first book in the Chosen Narratives series a while back and liked it but admittedly I didn’t love Hollis’ story as much as the Rebels of Sidyth series, but it was still an entertaining read and as I have managed to get ARC’s of the final 2 books in this series I couldn’t wait to see where the story was going to go. So, as you may remember this series follows Hollis and Chimase and it is set before the Rebels of Sidyth series.

4. Never Ashamed by Sabrina Kade **** – So, after loved the first book in this series and then being slighted disappointed with Never Tamed I wasn’t sure what to expect from Never Ashamed but the ending of Never Tamed set up a nice premise for this novel. Once again, we re-join Hollis and Chimase who have Chosen each other and now much face the realities of Sidyth society. Never Ashamed introduces us to Hollis and Chimase’s new life as mates but despite all this Hollis is conscious of the fact that Sidyth laws don’t recognise true mating until the female squeezes the male until he passes out, but this is something Hollis could never physically achieve.

5. Demanded by the Alien by Sabrina Kade ***** – So, this is book 4 in a sci-fi alien romance series which follows a new couple each book but set in the same universe and has a companion series called Chosen Narratives. This story is going to follow Dolan and Layla which I was excited about as Dolan is Azan’s younger brother from a previous novel in this series. I must also admit that the cover redesign on this series was beautiful and really gives you a vivid image of what the males in the series look like.

6. Dear Hungry Wolf by Vivian Ward **** – I didn’t know much about Dear Hungry Wolf before I picked it up, but I have loved the Matchmaker series and I doubt this will be any different. This novel follows Cole who is your typical playboy and Tillie, the innocent virgin. After joining the agency the pair don’t waste time on letters but rather, they IM chat with each other and agree to meet quite soon after they start talking.

7. Bunny by H.B. Jasick & Ember-Raine Winters ***** – When I got this arc from Booksprout I wasn’t expecting it to be a dark erotic thriller. If you have any reservations about this novel being dark just read the opening chapter and you will see just how dark it is, it actually made me think of one scene from American Psycho, but it was still hot. This novel is going to be following twin sister Salem and Ireland. It opens with Salem worried about her sister who has been missing for over a week and I feel that she could be the girl in the opening scene.

8. Rock My World by Mia Ford ***** – So, I have read a few books by Mia Ford and Rock My World at its core is a second chance romance novel. We learn that Addison “Addie” and Jace used to date back in college but broke up when he cheated on her and neither has been able to move on, not even when Jace became famous and Addison was doing well in her job. Addison’s best friend Luci ends up convincing her to join a dating agency and a short-lived post online leads Jace to find out and brings him home to sign up for the same agency with the slim hope of reconnecting with the love of his life.

9. Dating Games by T.K. Leigh ***** – I hadn’t heard anything about Dating Games when I downloaded it from Booksprout, but it sounded interesting and like something I would enjoy so I had to read it. So, we are following out protagonist Evie, whose boyfriend Trevor breaks up with her after ten years of being together for someone who will be viewed as more serious by his law firm and she is determined to get him back no matter what despite the fact he dumped her on her 30th birthday. However, will getting drunk she manages to draw the attention of a hot guy sitting the corner she nicknames Mr. Armani Suit among other things.

10. Not Her Daddy by Darcy Dawes ***** – This is the first book I have read by Darcy Dawes and we are introduced to Daniel who has become a dad after his sister lost custody of his nephew and he isn’t adjusted perfectly to his new lifestyle. Being a publishing executive means that Daniel also has to work full-time and ends up hiring a live-in nanny called Natalie. Natalie is a 19-year-old college student looking to make some extra cash over the summer and this babysitting job seems perfect for her. She instantly makes a connection with little Wyatt, but Daniel is also immediately attracted to this girl nearly 20 years younger than him and he knows he is in trouble.

11. Fireman’s Filthy 4th by Flora Ferrari ***** – I have read quite a few books by Flora Ferrari and loved them so I don’t think this will be any different, this story is going to follow Amy and Benjamin and from the title, I think Benjamin is going to be a hunky firefighter. Flora certainly wasn’t waiting around with this novel as she jumps straight into the action and all the good stuff that goes with it. Amy and Benjamin’s attraction is electric from the second they lay eyes on each other and it doesn’t stop there.

12. Russian Next Door by Flora Ferrari ***** – So, another Flora Ferrari book and the synopsis of this gives nothing away so I was so excited to get into it. This novel seems to follow Vasily and Amanda and may incorporate some mafia elements to the romance. This is an intriguing relationship from the start, Vasily seems to be a Russian with close ties to the Kremlin and the second he lays eyes on Amanda he wants to make her his but what he doesn’t know is that Amanda is working with the F.B.I.

13. The virgin witch and the vampire king by Trinity Blacio **** – The opening to the virgin witch and the vampire king was brilliant and this is only a very short prequel to the series, so I read it in under 30 minutes. We are introduced to the virgin witch Beth Roman while she is searching for her friend Nora who has been missing for the past two days.

14. Aquarius by A. P. Morgan ***** – The opening to Aquarius introduces us to Leslie Boxe, who is a new detective working her first homicide of a young girl named Susan whose birthday happened to mean she fell under the star sign Aquarius and this might be the Zodiac theme. As she assesses the scene of the crime, we see that Leslie is a little like Susan in the fact she works hard and has very little downtime but wants to get into dating. It is clear from the outset that Leslie despite being a rookie is good at her job, however, I was intrigued by the fact that we are getting the killer’s perspective as well as Leslie’s.

15. Pisces by A. P. Morgan ***** – Pisces is the sequel to Aquarius and the second book in the murders of the zodiac series. The prologue to this novel gives us some insight and confirms my suspicions that the ending of Aquarius wasn’t the end of the Zodiac killer. However, we are following Detective Jesse Burns in this novel, although I am sure both Leslie and Ryan will play keys roles a little later on. Jesse is a divorced dad of two children who is coming across a lot of male suicides and he makes the connection that one died on his birthday and contemplates calling Ryan but doesn’t. We also see the killer has had an apprentice as he is now on his 2nd and this new apprentice also knows Detective Burns which is going to make for some interesting reading later on.

16. Aries by A. P. Morgan ***** – Aries is the third book in the Murders of the Zodiac series and so far, Aquarius and Pisces have built up a wonderful crime, thriller, mystery that left me hanging so much I couldn’t wait to dive into the third book. From the synopsis of this book, I was right in guessing that Leslie and Ryan would be targeted, and I am interested in seeing how this will affect their dynamic and whether their relationship will change in the course of this novel.

17. Tremble (Books 1-5)  by Laura Avery **** – So all I knew about the Tremble series is that it follows Winter and Caden and it is an enemy to lovers dark romance series and the synopsis really had me hooked so I had to request the first five books in the series. Like my other reviews for multiple books in a series, I will be reviewing each book individually, although this series doesn’t have different names for each book but rather, they are numbered.

18. Demon Whiskey by S.M. Blooding ***** – Demon Whiskey is the short novella prequel to the Whiskey Witches series and the synopsis sounds amazing so I couldn’t wait to get into it. We are introduced to Leslie Whiskey and her two children as well as her grandmother Alma. Leslie also lives with her niece Leah as her sister Paige is a demon summoner which makes her the most powerful kind of witch along with her mastery of all the elements. However, when a strange man appears on her doorstep telling her Paige might be in danger and to keep her eyes open, Leslie isn’t that concerned as Paige can take care of herself, but Paige is still her little sister.

19. Holiday Gay by Various *** – As this book is a collection of LGBT erotic romance holiday-themed stories, I will be reviewing each story individually. Christmas is Cancelled By Adam Schubak: Christmas is cancelled is one huge satirical take on the gay community celebrating Christmas. We are introduced to Kevin who is dealing with the aftermath of posting an anti-Christmas post of his blog when he meets his best friend Omar for drinks. During the course of the night, we are introduced to a hot bartender, the sassiest drag queen ever and the liveable Jack just filled with Christmas cheer.
