Book Review

Title: My Dad’s Best Friend (A Touch of Taboo Book 3) by Katee Robert

Genre: Erotic, Romance

Rating: 4 Stars

After reading the first two books in this series and loving them I had to jump into book 3 straight away. All I knew about this book before picking it up was we are following Blake and Jonas. Blake was rejected by Jonas six years before as he is her father’s best friend and now there are stuck together during a storm. Given how quickly Robert jumps into the good stuff in this series I couldn’t wait to get stuck into a new romance. Jonas is an architect and Blake is running her father’s company but she has run into a problem since some clients want Jonas to design their homes but he no longer does that particular job. Blake has been trying to get him on board for a while but has always been met with the same response so she drives to his home hoping he won’t turn her away. While he lets her deliver the pitch and he turns he down she can’t leave because of the storm and she stays the night. She tries to get him to talk about the night six years before where he rejected her after she kissed him and he makes it very clear that she was too young back then at 22 as she was the daughter of his best friend and boss so it was never going to happen. Blake does drop some hints about them doing it now but Jonas once again rejects her although this very quickly changes when he finds her pleasuring herself in his bed.

In this book we get to see the return of the Daddy/Baby Girl dynamic but Jonas has a more BDSM feel about him than any of the other male characters we have seen so far and I can’t wait to see how this plays out. The first interaction between the pair was divine as they don’t lose their witty and sarcastic banter when the fun times begin. This book was very similar to the first as it features a weeklong session that ends and obviously Blake and Jonas can’t stay away from each other. However, I did like that it was Jonas who came to Blake and showed her how much he wanted her and how he was so supportive over her work and they even mention sitting down with her father to explain their relationship. I did have a few issues with this book, the first was it just felt a little rushed over all and it just needed to be a tiny bit longer. There also wasn’t that much dialogue between Blake and Jonas outside of the bedroom. I also felt that the scene where Jonas confesses how he feels for Blake should have been longer and a little more detailed and the ending would have been a lot better if we actually got the scene where Blake and Jonas have to sit down with her father, Victor and explain their relationship and got his support as that would have really made it feel as though their relationship transitioned from sex to romance. Because of these issues I couldn’t give My Dad’s Best Friend 5 stars but it was still well worth the read.
