Never Ashamed (Chosen Narratives, #3) by Sabrina Kade

Book Review

Title: Never Ashamed (Chosen Narratives, #3)

Author: Sabrina Kade

Genre: Romance/Sci-Fi

Rating: ****

Review: So, after loved the first book in this series and then being slighted disappointed with Never Tamed I wasn’t sure what to expect from Never Ashamed but the ending of Never Tamed set up a nice premise for this novel. Once again, we re-join Hollis and Chimase who have Chosen each other and now much face the realities of Sidyth society. Never Ashamed introduces us to Hollis and Chimase’s new life as mates but despite all this Hollis is conscious of the fact that Sidyth laws don’t recognise true mating until the female squeezes the male until he passes out, but this is something Hollis could never physically achieve.

As Chimase has to attend a dinner with his father and Hollis, he is torn about what to do especially after his actions in Never Tamed and they decide until they figure out their situation it is best for Hollis to act like any other service worker during the dinner, but this deeply upsets both Hollis and Chimase. I also found despite the fact they talk to each other often they are many misunderstandings which I feel shouldn’t have happened because Hollis should understand certain facets of Sidyth society and should be able to translate her feelings in a way that Chimase can accurately understand.

The ending of Never Ashamed was interesting as it doesn’t take us up to the events that start the Rebels of Sidyth series like I was expecting but there are whispers of discontent flowing through Sidyth society which hint greatly at the mass exile of Sidyth males and Chimase is one of the first. Despite this, I wasn’t wholly content with the ending but it did provide closure to the series and characters, but I would have like to have seen some of the other Sidyths before their exile.
