I didn't get to read much this month but I am planning to read 20+ books in November.
The Genesis of Seven (The Empyrean Trilogy #1) by Sara M. Schaller ***** – The Genesis of Seven was a debut novel that really caught my eye and after reading the first instalment in The Empyrean Trilogy, I will definitely be keeping an eye on the series. It reminded me a little of Good Omens as it involves a journey around the world including Heaven and Hell and features an amazing cast of characters that includes angels, archangels, and Satan.
All or None (Star Stories #1) by Aurora Lee Thornton ***** – When I was offered the chance to review All or None, I jumped at it because it was labelled on Amazon as LGBT+ fantasy which is a genre I am really enjoying right now, however, the trigger warnings on the book made me a bit hesitant. Now I see that I had no reason to worried since I loved this book so much. I want to start my review off by saying that this book literally hit all the right buttons for me as it features some of my favourite tropes like found family (the good and wholesome kind) as well as a queer romance which isn’t limited by gender or race. I also really enjoyed the fact that even though there are soulmates in this world they aren’t the same. There are relationship where a person has more than one soulmate, soulmates of the same gender and so much more. The soulmates trope also wasn’t used as a way to push the plot forward or explain critical plot points which made the reading experience 100x times better for me than when I read ACOTAR and ACOMAF.
Forget This Ever Happened by Cassandra Rose Clarke **** – Honestly, I didn’t know what to tag this book as because the synopsis sounded so strange to me at first. We are introduced to our protagonist, Claire as she is moving to Indianola to spend the summer with her grandmother. Claire isn’t happy about staying with her ailing grandmother and we feel her frustration as if it were our own, but things quickly become interesting as Claire discovers that monsters show up in the town and this is a normal and regular occurrence for the residents. However, there is a catch as they lose their memories of these months once they leave the town, which really peaked my interest as this screamed more aliens than it did monsters so I wanted to know more about these creatures and how they influenced the residents of the town.
Abney Kelly & the Yuletide Shenanigans (Abney Kelly #1) by SamiJo McQuiston **** - I didn’t know much about Abney Kelly & the Yuletide Shenanigans going into it but from the synopsis alone it sounds like a strange mash-up between Halloween and Christmas with some really spooky vibes so I couldn’t wait to get into it. We are introduced to our protagonist, Abney Kelly, who seems like your typical young teenager as she is she, lonely and frequently bullied until one day she is taken to a school in Tìr na nÓg, called Yule where she discovers she is a Changeling and this leads her on a journey of discovery about what she is and she also beings to make friends along the way, although she is frequently warned to stay away from one student in particular.
