Title: Partner for Love
Author: Marito Ai
Genre: Manga
Rating: *****
Review: The synopsis for Partner for Love sounds like a cowboy romance which I love: “Darcy came all the way from London to visit Bindaburra Ranch, a property that her great-uncle left her in his will. On her way to the ranch, her car ran into trouble and she had to walk along the road in an unfamiliar countryside in her heels. Just as she was about to lose hope, a man named Cooper came in his car and saved her. But Cooper claimed that he was the owner of the Bindaburra. Was Cooper trying to take advantage of her uncle’s death to claim the ranch her uncle loved?”
Partner for Love is exactly what I wanted it to be we follow Darcy who great-uncle Bill left her a ranch, but she soon learns that not only is she unprepared for life in the Australian outback but that she isn’t the sole owner of Bindaburra. It turns out that Cooper the man that rescued her also owns 50% of the ranch and she now has to be a partner in the ranch unless she fancies selling her half to the cold Cooper.
Being forced to live and work in close quarters often leads to some arguments between the pair but that is due to their difference in upbringing and the fact that neither really understands much about the other. After being in Australia for long Darcy is beginning to realise how out of her depth, she actually is compared to someone like Cooper who has lived all his life in the outback and on ranches.
However, after getting lost in the outback for hours one night after an argument Darcy and Cooper realise how much they have come to care for one another and spend the night under the stars which was beautifully drawn. Cooper even asks Darcy to marry him, but this joy doesn’t last long after Jed Murray gets involved. Through Jed and his wife Darcy is fed a pack of lies which she doesn’t want to believe but when she finds a letter that seemingly confirms what Jed and Melanie told her, she breaks things off with Cooper, sells him her half of the ranch and flies back to England.
On her arrival back in England Darcy receives a delayed letter from her dead great-uncle showing her how wrong she was to make assumptions about Cooper. She hastily writes a letter saying that she is signing over her half of the ranch and that he doesn’t even need to pay her for it as she deeply regrets everything she said. As she gets no letter in reply, she believes that Cooper has moved on only to find him in a London park waiting for her with a proposal and an offer to take her home, which she jumps at.
