Rock My World by Mia Ford

Book Review

Title: Rock My World

Author: Mia Ford

Genre: Romance

Rating: *****

Review: So, I have read a few books by Mia Ford and Rock My World at its core is a second chance romance novel. We learn that Addison “Addie” and Jace used to date back in college but broke up when he cheated on her and neither has been able to move on, not even when Jace became famous and Addison was doing well in her job. Addison’s best friend Luci ends up convincing her to join a dating agency and a short-lived post online leads Jace to find out and brings him home to sign up for the same agency with the slim hope of reconnecting with the love of his life.

When Addison and Jace finally come face to face again, she feels angry and betrayed that he has tried to find her like this when she clearly doesn’t want to see him again. He explains that he didn’t cheat on her and that Luci who had told her about it was mistaken and I have the feeling that Luci deliberately broke them up and then kept them apart for six years. Jace pleads with Addison for one more chance for them to try and salvage a shred of the happiness that they had in the past.

As Addison and Jace reconnect we can see the love between them never left and both used coping mechanics to try and forget about the other, but Addison can’t ignore the fact that she is lying to Luci and has to come clean. When she does Luci gets so angry and refuses to be Addison’s friend until Jace leaves or she comes to her senses and Addison starts to doubt Jace, doubts whether his story was true and isn’t sure who to believe but Luci does seem way too invested in Addison’s love life especially where Jace is concerned.

To say Jace and Addison’s relationship is complicated is a massive understatement, it’s like comparing a black hole and a pothole. When Addison’s insecurities get the better of her Jace decides that may be coming back into her life might not have been the right thing to do and takes some time to decide where he truly wants his life to go. He ends up making a heartfelt press conference explaining why he is leaving his band to go after the one woman he was loved and lost. Meanwhile, Jace’s mother steps in to speak to Addison directly even though she is hurting once again because of her son.

The ending of Rock My World was a perfect HEA especially after all the troubles these characters had gone through and I loved how the epilogue wasn’t overly fluffy and just a nice number of steamy scenes to keep the feel of the novel consistent. I really liked Jace and Addison as characters, I wasn’t overly keen on Luci but by the end, she had managed to redeem herself somewhat.
