Book Review
Title: Saga Volume One
Author: Brian K. Vaughan & Fiona Staples
Genre: Graphic Novel
Rating: *****
Review: We are introduced to Marko and Alana, as Alana gives birth to their daughter. We can see that both are not human as Marko has horns and Alana has wings, I had heard a lot about the Saga series and the opening didn’t disappoint. Alana and Marko seem to be on opposite sides of a war and their daughter is something both sides want as it was thought that their two species could mate much less reproduce and our narrator is the baby named Hazel.
As the family-run for their lives, we meet the sweetest undead ghost Izabel who ends up being bound to Hazel in order to save Marko, but this isn’t going well at all for the new family. When Izabel finally manages to help Alana save Marko he finds himself in a lot of trouble. However, we are also following the perspective of the Will who has been giving the task of hunting the family down, killing Alana and Marko but returning Hazel alive.
There isn’t really much I can say about Saga other than to read it. The art, the worlds, the characters they are brilliant, and I will definitely be picking Volume 2 as soon as I can along with the rest of the series.
