Title: Satan’s Affair by H. D. Carlton
Genre: Dark, Erotic, Romance
Rating: 4 Stars
Satan’s Affair was definitely a lot darker than I was expecting from a poly reverse harem but I wasn’t disappointed by it. We are introduced to Sibel also known as Sibby as she works within a travelling Halloween themed carnival known as Satan’s Affair but she isn’t there to scare people. Sibby has to ability to work out who are truly evil people and take them out of the world. It is rare with see a killer women in these kinds of novels so that was very refreshing. Sibby works with her five henchmen who she also has a polyamorous sexual relationship with and she is content with her life. We follow Sibby getting to know her and the henchmen as she brutally murders people she deems to be evil saving the world one demon at a time.
Throughout this portion of the novel we also get flashbacks to Sibby’s past, her father ran a sex cult which she was born into and because of this Sibby isn’t even aware of how old she is. After witnessing the suicide of her mother because she felt she couldn’t escape Sibby kills her father and flees eventually find Satan’s Affair. One night she ends up getting several evil men into the haunted house and she isn’t prepared for that many as she usually takes one at a time. However, there is a mysterious boy there called Zade who helps her kill the men and offers to help her flee when the police arrive but she won’t leave her henchmen behind. Zade disappears into the night and Sibby flees with her henchmen but they get into an accident where Sibby is picked up and taken to the hospital. After recovering Sibby is locked in a mental facility where it is explained to her that she is suffering from schizophrenia and that henchmen were just illusions produced by her own mind.
For a brief moment it seems like Sibby is going to accept this when one of her henchman appears before her as she hasn’t been taking her medication and he urges her to kill the doctor so that they can escape together. Killing is something Sibby knows and does well so she obviously does it considering she is in love with her henchmen. Overall, Satan’s Affair was a very dark and bleak reverse harem but I was gripped from the first sentence to the last and if you enjoy this kind of thing then I highly recommend it.
