Title: Seduced into the Greek’s World

Author: Keiko Okamoto

Genre: Manga

Rating: *****

Review: Again, the synopsis of Seduced into the Greek’s World sounds like your typical romance which is given the kind of books this manga was adapted from. Natalie is a single mother whose everyday life is filled with work and caring for her little girl, leaving no time for romance. When her work takes her to Paris, she is invited to a dinner with her boss, millionaire Demitri Makricosta. Her heart flutters at his passionate gaze but she tells herself she’s there to work. Still, when she has dinner with him, she struggles to resist his charm and soon finds herself in his bed. It was supposed to be just a one-night fantasy. But maybe the future holds more…

Natalie is a dedicated single mother trying to maintain her hard-built career and be a present mother to her young daughter Zoey. However, this life isn’t easy as it has meant sacrificing almost any chance at having a happy relationship. Natalie has also had a hard life as it has been spent caring for others, first her brother Gareth who died young, then her mother until her passing and finally her daughter.

Demitri, on the other hand, seems to be a playboy through and through but there is actually so much more to him. He is the youngest of the Makricosta children and has a hard relationship with his sibling because they are always pushing him to settle down when he isn’t ready. Demitri also had a hard life as his father was abusive and because their mother wasn’t around the children bore the brunt of their father’s violent temper. However, Demitri was spared most of it because he was the youngest, yet he could stand by and watch his brother and sister being beaten so he often caused trouble to spare them, taking the beatings himself.

After a chance meeting while Natalie is on a business trip in Paris the pair go to dinner but not because Demitri wants her but because he thinks she is having an affair with his brother who is married. Natalie quickly sets this rumour to rest but doesn’t tell Demitri the whole truth. Demitri reminds Natalie that she is still a young woman and she soon finds herself in a sexual relationship with him but nothing more is expected.

However, one night Demitri is there when Zoey calls Natalie from back home in Canada and she can immediately tell he isn’t up for having a relationship with a woman who has a child and things go south from there. Things get worse when Demitri is called into his sister’s office and is reprimanded from having a relationship with an employee which is prohibited, but Natalie steps in and tells her boss that Demitri didn’t hit on her and how their relationship is different from the ones he has had in the past. As she waits to be fired Natalie learns that Demitri has resigned from the company to save her from being fired and she is overwhelmed with love for him, but he is gone.

Upon returning home to Canada she finds Demitri waiting there for her with Zoey and he tells what happened in the time they have been apart and that he feels he is ready for a family but only with her. The story ends with them engaged and preparing for a child of their own with a large and happy family beside them. I loved how this story focused on some darker elements like child abuse and the repercussions that can have on children in later life. Highly recommended!
