Book Review
Title: Sex Tape by Seven Rue
Genre: Erotic, Taboo, Romance
Rating: 3.75 Stars
I have read a lot of Seven Rule’s books in the past so when I saw she wrote a new series as well as a bunch of other books I couldn’t wait to read them. Obviously, these are novellas so they aren’t very long but they definitely contain a lot of spice so check the trigger warnings before getting into them.
We are introduced to Miller and his daughter, Raylie, who just happens to make her living as a pornstar. Miller is very uncomfortable with this fact as we can see when his coworker sends him a link to one of his daughters videos as a joke and Miller explodes at them. However, we can see through Raylie’s perspective that despite her dad supporting her line of work, his discomfort around her when she brings it up is putting a wall between them and one night she decides to do something about it.
She comes over one evening unexpectedly to drink with him since he isn’t out with work friends like he normally is on the weekend and brings up her work more than once which only furthers the distance between them, rather than shrinking it. What she doesn’t know is that night, Miller ends up getting off on one of her videos and she discovers this the next morning and while she is ok with it, Miller isn’t and asks her for some space even though it has clearly hurt her feelings.
The rest of the weekend and Monday passes before Miller decides to contact Raylie again but she comes over before he has a chance to in order to clear the air between them. Again, Raylie is unaware that her father has vaguely discussed his situation with a colleague and has seemingly come to terms with his attraction to his own daughter and both act on this. Now, the sex scenes in this book aren’t exactly to my taste and not because of the father/daughter relationship as that is standard in taboo romance but because there is a particular kink used that I am not a fan of.
Overall, seeing Miller struggle with his attraction to his daughter and then throw it out the window when he realises that any other man might feel the same attraction in his position was amazing. Apart from the one particular kink I actively dislike it was an amazing book and very typical of what we expect from Seven Rue as an author. This is also part of a series with Sex Tape 2 & 3 going deeper into this dynamic and I can’t wait to get into them.
