Title: The Architect (Nashville Neighbours Book 3) by Nikki Sloane

Genre: Romance, Erotic

Rating: 3.5 Stars

Unlike the other two books in this series which have feature age gap heterosexually couples this one is going to feature an M/M/F pairing and I can’t wait to see what Sloane does with this. We are introduced to Lilith whose neighbour Clay approaches her one day about a cat that is injured as she works for a vet’s office and she helps him find the cat. After checking the cat over and determining it has no owner they decide to co-parent the cat since Clay isn’t around much because of work and Lilith can’t own one because of her parents and they name her Noir. This continues for a few weeks allowing a friendship to form between Clay and Lilith but Lilith wants more than a friendship with him and decides to make a move by waiting naked in his home.

It is here that Lilith finds out that Clay is into BDSM and she rolls with it, finding out that she enjoys it too. The pair begin a dominant/submissive relationship but Clay warns her not to fall for him because he doesn’t do love and this suits Lilith fine because she doesn’t do long term relationships either. One night they head to a place called Club Eros where they begin to explore Lilith’s kink. Another man there seems to be Clay’s friend and interested in Lilith so Clay sets up a situation where she is going to sexually interact with him but I can see where this is going and I wasn’t sure how it was going to work out. Lilith isn’t allowed to kiss or speak to the man during this scene but she finds out that having Clay watch her is immensely arousing for her. When a project of Clay’s begins to go south and he is away for several weeks he asks this same man to be a stand in for him. Lilith only knows him as Mr. E and he acts as a physical dominant while Clay is usually on a Skype call with them.

These scenes are really hot but Lilith begins wanting to know more about the man and one day after Clay hangs up she speaks to him breaking one of Clay’s rules. From there she learns the man’s name is Travis and he is a friend of Clay’s but they ends up sleeping together without Clay breaking another of his rules. Both feel terrible about it and confess to Clay what they have done, he isn’t angry about it as he knew his rules set them up for failure while he is disappointed in Travis he understands why they slept together. Lilith now having an emotional and sexually attachment to both men wants to make their arrangement work and for a little while it does but Lilith wants more which is something Clay has repeatedly said he won’t be able to offer her. After the hottest scene in the book, the threesome scene the trio have a discussion about whether or not they can work as a throuple. While Lilith and Travis are up for it Clay says no, Lilith is heartbroken but Travis explains that Clay is just scared and he will eventually come around.

Clay does try to talk to Lilith a few times but she refuses without Travis being there as she needs to both of them. Clay does come around and he speaks to Lilith privately as he has already spoken to Travis and explains why he ran from them and agrees to give their relationship a go. Travis ends up moving in with Clay who lives right next door to Lilith so they can spend more time together. While I did enjoy The Architect more than The Pool Boy, neither were as good as The Doctor for me. I will be reading more of Sloane’s work in the future but I felt especially with this book she could have done more with the throuple element and included more threesome scenes and more between Travis and Clay than what we got. Overall, a decent read but it didn’t live up to the standards the first book set which was a little disappointing for me.
