Title: Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otakus Vol 3 by Fujita
Genre: Slice of Life, Romance, Manga
Rating: 5 Stars
Volume 3 started to introduce content that wasn’t in the anime and it didn’t disappoint. We get so much packed into this volume that I was left stunned. First of all we get so much Nao and Ko content since Nao discovered in the last volume that Ko was actually a girl and turned to Narumi for advice on how to make things right between them which worked amazingly. Ko did think for a minute that Narumi was Nao’s girlfriend showing her growing feelings for him although Nao remains oblivious at this point. We also see Nao and Ko moving into the group properly which was amazing to see since it adds more diversity to the group.
We didn’t get much on the relationship between Kabakura and Hanako but we do get more of their friendships with Hirotaka and Narumi. Seeing Kabakura acts as the proud senpai seeing Hirotaka really come out of his shell and make friends and actively do this outside of his comfort zone for his friends was delightful and the friendship between Hanako and Narumi is something I desperately want back in my life. We do get a little snippet of their relationship as they navigate to achieve a healthy work/life balance and the issues that come from that.
The star of the volume though has to be the development in Hirotaka and Narumi’s relationship. We have seen since the beginning that Hirotaka was more invested in the relationship that Narumi since he had feelings for her long before she did for him but her feelings really shine in this volume. From Narumi being happy that Hirotaka is making friends outside of their otaku group and becoming more confident to missing him when he isn’t around. The only thing I am mad about in that twice now Fujita has snubbed two potential kisses for hugs meaning we haven’t had a kiss between Hirotaka and Narumi since the headbutt scene and I need one urgently.
