Title: Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otakus Vol 4 by Fujita
Genre: Slice of Life, Romance, Manga
Rating: 5 Stars
Volume 4 was my favourite volume so far as we get a lot of Hanako and Kabakura content as well as a lot of Nao and Ko content. Volume 4 follows the same structure as the previous ones but the side relationships take centre stage here and I was so happy about since Hirotaka and Narumi’s relationship feels like it is moving at a snail’s pace sometimes but that is only to highlight the differences in these types of relationships.
Nao and Ko were so cute in this volume as both are becoming aware of their romantic feelings towards the other but have no idea how to actually express them which made for some cute and adorable moments. The best scene would have to be the one where Ko actually confesses her feelings for Nao although she ends it with asking to be friends forever and this is the moment that Nao begins to see her more as a love interest than a friend and it was nice to see Nao in a different light from the pure if a little slow younger brother of Hirotaka.
However, the absolute stars of the show were Hanako and Taro (Kabakura) and it begins with Hanako losing her necklace that Taro had given her back in high school. Taro doesn’t seem to understand why Hanako is so upset about losing it until Narumi explains it to her and how Hanako treasured the memory that went with the necklace rather than the item itself. Taro obviously goes looking for Hanako and when he finds her, he apologizes and follows it up with a proposal which made me tear up. Of course, Narumi and Hirotaka’s reactions to the engagement were amazing as well as the numerous scenes of them planning the wedding.
Volume 4 really left it on a high note and I couldn’t wait to continue the series and I hope to see an actual wedding for Kabakura couple, a confession scene between Ko and Nao and at least one more kiss between Hirotaka and Narumi since Fujita is determined to keep us hanging on for this content.
